Since May 4th, Zhengzhou implemented "static management" in its urban area. Such a state shows citizens" unity in supporting pandemic response efforts. This temporary quietness is to pave the way for future prosperity. 

5月4日起，郑州主城区暂行“静态管理”。这份安静，是城市在抗击疫情特殊时期的自觉选择，也是所有郑州人达成的坚定共识。尽管繁华都市突然静了，我们却愈发感受到越来越强劲的脉动。

People in Zhengzhou are making collective efforts to fight against the pandemic. 

郑州正在经历一场动静结合的阻击战。

Residents stayed in their homes. As the pandemic broke out, Zhengzhou authorities immediately took targeted measures in lockdown areas and controlled areas. People observed every requirement made by authorities to help fight against the pandemic. 

让该静的静了下来。社会面管控从严从紧，封控区、管控区管理细之又细，全市人民在慢和静中鼓足干劲，携手对抗疫情。

Response forces were busy serving citizens as they controlled the pandemic. Supply deliveries and express services are allowed to operate with certificates, to ensure people have access to living materials. More than 274,000 volunteers in 3,742 teams are working throughout the city to help carry out response efforts. 

让该动的动了起来。全市保供车辆、快递外卖凭证通行，群众生活物资需求保障到位；3742支队伍、27.4万余名志愿者身穿“红马甲”活跃在城市大街小巷。

The orderly but strong response effort is owed to the hard work of those who kept stepping forward in face of dangers and the support of 13 million citizens. 

在这“静”而有动、“静”而有序、“静”而有力的背后，是无数逆行者的挺身而出，也是1300万普通市民的勇于担当。

In the fight against the pandemic, people from abroad made their contributions to the efforts.

作为郑州人的一份子，生活在这座城市里的老外也同样有静有动。

Rim, a Moroccan girl, planned her life staying at home to show support for the control measures. She is learning Chinese and is trying Chinese cooking, in the hope of being more familiar with China to better enjoy her life here. 

摩洛哥姑娘Rim随着城市的节奏选择了一种宁静的生活方式，她宅在家里学习中文、烹制中餐，希望疫情过后能成为中国通，去迎接更美好的生活。

Philipp Kirsch, a teacher from Australia, loves playing with his pet cat on his balcony with a small garden when he is not teaching online. He even grows his own strawberries. He felt shocked by the efficiency of the nucleic acid test conducted in Zhengzhou. He felt satisfied with the well-ordered supermarket, where he could buy what he wanted. He felt happy when he had more time to communicate with his students.

来自澳大利亚的外教Philipp Kirsch，除了在家为大学生线上教学之外，最喜欢和他的宠物猫待在阳台的小花园摆弄花草，他甚至自己种了草莓。他为郑州每一次核酸的效率感到震惊，也为货品充足、井然有序的超市感到欣喜，更为能有时间与学生们充分交流感到满足。

Kenny, a lively Russian girl, is keeping busy even though she is at home. She loves yoga and cleaning, ways of exercising without leaving home. She believes that Zhengzhou will defeat the pandemic if individuals strengthen their exercise. 

活泼开朗的俄罗斯女孩Kenny居家也闲不住，她热爱瑜伽，喜欢打扫，足不出户就能运动。她坚信，如果人人都加强锻炼，守护好自己的小家，那郑州这个大家庭也会平安、健康地度过疫情。Individual force might be weak but is contributed in a determined way.

微光虽微，但永恒绵长。

There is a quote from the Internet: you can always trust Zhengzhou, it will never let you down. Its people have been resilient throughout its history of 3,600 years.

网上流传着一句话：你永远可以相信郑州，郑州也从来不会让你失望！这种信任来自每一位郑州人的努力和坚守，来自每一位郑州人的踔厉奋发、笃行不怠，更来自3600年古都、“山河祖国”郑州的厚重积淀。
